Growing numbers of people around the world are facing difficult choices as the environmental effects of climate change, ranging from flooding to hurricanes, desertification and rising sea levels render it nearly impossible for people to remain at home. A serious challenge to economic and social development in people's home communities, displacement relating to changing environmental conditions is not new , however the frequency and magnitude of the effects of our changing climate are likely to increase, leading many individuals with little choice other than to migrate for their own survival.
