Radio 1812 seeks your support and participation for the International Migrants Day 2008 radio program, taking place on the 18th of December. The goal of this radio broadcasting is to ensure that migrants' voices are heard around the world.

Do you know Radio 1812? It's the global radio event organised by December 18, to celebrate International Migrants Day. Last year, Radio 1812 brought together more than 150 radios from 34 countries in all regions of the world.
In 2000, the UN officially declared the 18th of December to be International Migrants Day: an occasion for all of us to celebrate migrants' contributions and share their concerns.  Radio 1812 celebrates International Migrants Day through radio broadcasting: making migrants' voices heard is the key thread throughout the event. This year, our aim is to get 200 radio stations on board, from community-based stations to national and international broadcasters as well as online radios.

In 2000, the UN officially declared the 18th of December to be International Migrants Day: an occasion for all of us to celebrate migrants' contributions and share their concerns.

So be sure not to miss this opportunity to promote your work and to take part in the third edition of Radio 1812. There are several ways to get involved.  You can:

  • Share your own radio programs, if you have any, on our sitewww.radio1812.net so that radios can freely download and re-broadcast them
  • Contact your radios (local, national and/or international) and invite them to cover International Migrants Day and participate in Radio 1812.  You could, for example, suggest interviewees, proposed a debate or a program and co-organise it or promote your own activities to celebrate International Migrants Day
  • Suggest radios and send their contact details so that we can get in touch with them directly

On our website, www.radio1812.net, you will find more information on how to
participate, how to reach out to radio stations. Radio journalists are
interested in new ideas for their programs and in opportunities to take part
in new initiatives, like a global event!  Our experience is that radios love
the Radio 1812 event!

For more information, and to suggest radio stations that might be interested in taking part in this annual event, please contact:
